On the campaign trail

I don't consider myself a Democrat or a Republican. I vote for who I think will do the better job. And as for issues, I vote with my heart. Here are a few campaigns I am highly endorsing:

Ed Herman for State Representative: www.herman2006.com

Issue 3 - Earn & Learn: http://www.ohiolearnandearn.com/

Issue 18 - Protecting Arts & Cluture in Cleveland: http://www.cuyahogaartsandculture.org/

Irritating

Just a little pet peeve I have: When I go to a job to teach dance routines and people do other peoples choreography in front of me. And tell me how cool it was and how awesome she was. Guess what, I'm better! Hence why I'M here doing the job.

Swing Life Away

I have read articles in magazines about it. I've even seen Oprah do a show about it. But I never really thought they existed. Swingers, that is. Not the cool daddio's that want to lindey hop with you. Swingers - like a husband and wife want to add another player to the pot. But, they do!
There was a couple this past Saturday night that tried to convince us that swinging is just the greatest. It's normal and is the best thing ever! Needless to say, we didn't join in. But it was unbelievable!

p.s. On a complete different page - my parents are celebrating their 32nd wedding anniversary today. That is quite a feat this day of age. Yeah for them!

Boob Tube

I've been a bit addicted to t.v. as of late (so unlike me). * Project Runway 3:Love it, Laura, love it!!! This has to be the best season ever! * Dancing With the Stars: They are using the term stars very loosely. I am very disappointed this season. * The View: Here's my question - the show has been on for 10 years. Why does Rosie feel that she has to take over now that's she's on? It did fine without her and, frankly, I wish it would go back to being without her. * Rachel Ray: I can not wait for this show to start! I just adore her!

Purely random questions through out my day

* Aren't the Asian salads from McDonald's is REALLY good ?
* What hurts worse: lost love or unrequired love?
* Did I set the vcr to record 'Dancing With the Stars'?
* Guys are jerks - why do I bother?
* Cuz when it's good, it's really good.
* Why do I enjoy the song 'SexyBack' so much?
* This whole MySpace is getting kinda old.
* Will I ever be truly out of debt or do I use it as a crutch?
* Why the need to remake songs from the 80's?
* What the hell is taking so long?
* What is an edemade?

Remembering 9/11

Everyone has their stories....their recollections, their emotions, their grief... and I'm not any different. September 11th, 2001 is burned into my brain.
I remember running late for work and having the news on while I was getting ready when I heard the report of a plane hitting the WTC. Bizarre - how would that happen? Then I saw the second plane hit the second tower. Terrorism was not even a word in my vocabulary. Terrorism? We're America - we don't have terrorism. But it was mom who made me aware that we were, indeed, under attack.
The next few hours felt like a blur. The plane hitting the Paragon - what the hell was happening? Was all of America to be hit and destroyed? Then the plane in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania!!!! That's one state over! Were we next? What were they doing? Who was they?
My boyfriend, at the time, worked right next to the Cleveland airport. I was calling him every five minutes with reports and begging him to leave - to run for safety. The towers were falling - hundreds of souls devoured. "Please come home. Just come home so I know you're safe."
We were on pins and needles the rest of the day - were there more planes? More bombs? More attacks planned?
I went to work that night - trying to have some sort of normalcy; To give the kids somewhere to go so they didn't have to see the images. To not have to see their parents in fear.
Afterwards, I went to my boyfriends apartment and we just held each other and watched the t.v. We hardly spoke - maybe an "oh my God" was muttered as we made our arms tighter around each other. It was unbelievable. This couldn't have happened - couldn't.
I don't think I slept that night. I laid on the floor of my living room with my dad and watched the news until the sun came up. Twenty-four hours had passed and we still could not believe.
It's been five years - and I still feel the tight pain in my chest when I see the images. Life is different now. I pray that all the souls that were lost that day are at peace. I pray for our troops and for our country. I will never forget that day. Nor will I forget standing at Ground Zero and taking it all in. It evokes an emotion all its own. Life is different.

Pride & Prejudice

Lakeland Theatre is once again delighted to present Jane Austen's enduring romance,
"Pride and Prejudice"
beginning October 6 through October 22 at Lakeland Community College's Performing Arts Center. Lakeland is remounting the production, following a successful run two years ago. The novel is a perennial favorite - and the play is also finding its way into the hearts of both Jane Austen fans and everyone who likes a good story well told. Lakeland artistic director Martin Friedman is again directing the play, using an adaptation written by Gate Theatre artists James Maxwell and Alan Stanford. Choreography by Nicci Cassara.
This is a wonderful adaptation of a beloved Jane Austen novel that is seldom seen on stage. Elizabeth duels with her prejudice and Darcy with his pride; or is it the other way around? Love trumps both pride and prejudice in one of the truly great literary romances of all time. Pride and Prejudice opens Friday, October 6 at 8:00 p.m. and runs until October 22nd, 2006.

Hodge Podge

I have many topics today : Fisr and foremost, I start back up at the studio today. I'm nervous (like I am every year). I so want to be a better teacher and have a successful year. I have so many ideas and goals for this upcoming school year.
I got a new choreography gig - SO EXCITED! I'll be doing the courtship dances for 'Pride & Prejudice' at LAkeland Theatre. This is a biggie - Martin Friedman is directing it. Yeah!
The new OK GO video is the coolest thing I have seen in a long time! I am in LOVE with it!
Summer is over - Going to the Saint Rocco's Fest on Labor Day weekend always signifies this for me. I stuffed myself with zeppolli's - oh so yuumy! But I adore autumn - it's my favorite season. I'm looking forward to a fabulous fall.
So there's my rambeling for today. It's a little everywhere, but that's how my brain is lately.
